RangeWater Hires Joseph Martinez as Managing Director of Georgia
ATLANTA (Jan. 14, 2020) – RangeWater Real Estate announced today that Joseph (Joe) Martinez has joined the company as Managing Director of Georgia. Martinez will guide RangeWater’s development team to source and execute multifamily deals throughout the state, with a concentration on metro Atlanta. Prior to RangeWater, Martinez served as Director of Development at Crescent Communities.
“RangeWater is one of the most prolific and highly regarded multifamily developers,” Martinez said. “The company’s reputation, caliber of people and quality of product, attracted me to this position. Here I can continue building places that people prefer to live while enhancing the surrounding neighborhoods.”
Martinez will advance RangeWater’s strategy of building quality, market-rate apartments in high-growth submarkets as well as exploring new product types, such as build-to-rent townhomes, high-rise buildings and active adult communities. He plans to build upon the company’s success at The Battery by pursuing partnerships with retail and office developers on mixed-use opportunities. His team will focus on ground up developments in suburban submarkets with walkable access to retail and restaurants as well as intown deals in neighborhoods where there is a rising demand for multifamily housing.
“Joe and I have known each other for years through our involvement with Urban Land Institute’s Center for Leadership,” said Brian Oates, Managing Director of Development at RangeWater. “I have always admired his dedication to the built environment and know that his experience and leadership will add tremendous value to our team.”
Martinez’s background includes the execution and oversight of several multifamily and mixed-use projects in Georgia. During his time at Crescent Communities, Martinez worked on projects all over the country and locally, such as NOVEL O4W and NOVEL Midtown Atlanta, a high-rise under construction at 14th and Spring Streets. Martinez serves on the board of the Urban Land Institute Atlanta chapter and is an active member of the Real Estate Investment Advisory Council’s Southeast Chapter. He is also a member and volunteers regularly at Buckhead Church in Atlanta.
“Joe’s development experience and knowledge of the Atlanta market made his joining our team a no brainer,” said Steven Shores, CEO and President of RangeWater. “He brings the professionalism and passion to the RangeWater team that we seek in our people, projects and partners.”
Martinez’s hire coincides with the company’s announcement of its new development on the BeltLine’s Southside Trail. Located at the west end of the Southside BeltLine at the trail’s at-grade crossing with Milton Avenue, the project will feature 325 apartments, 110 build-to-rent townhomes and a variety of social spaces including a shaded pavilion and greenspace overlooking D.H. Stanton Park that will be open to residents and the public. RangeWater will break ground on the site this month.
